Job Introduction
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated new graduate or mid-career conservator to undertake a 12-month internship within the Sculpture and Installation Art Conservation team. You will focus on one artwork which contains modern materials but is also a kinetic artwork, researching, documenting, and preparing to display-ready condition. Working alongside the Sculpture Conservators and Technicians, you will collaborate with the science teams and external specialists to plan and solve complex challenges to ensure high standards of preservation.
You will hold a recognised qualification in Conservation and be able to demonstrate knowledge/experience treating, researching and documenting works. You will plan the project with support from the team; mapping out the steps and milestones, condition checking the work, creating a treatment plan and undertaking research into the artist and materials. Effective communication will be essential, as well as good time management and project planning skills.
The role will be based at Tate Britain but you will be expected to work across sites including Tate Modern and Tate Stores.
