Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a System Engineer-Quality ,Invertors. to be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon.
Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced System Engineer – Quality with a specialized background in inverter system engineering and proven expertise in automotive quality processes. The role focuses on driving product reliability and compliance through robust system-level design validation and the application of tools such as DFMEA, FTA, and DRBFM across the development lifecycle of inverter-based EV and HEV platforms.
Area of Responsibility
Quality Engineering & System Safety
- Develop and deploy quality assurance strategies for inverter systems from concept to production.
- Lead advanced quality planning activities using DFMEA, FTA, and DRBFM, ensuring thorough risk identification and mitigation.
- Drive design for quality reviews, participate in cross-functional audits, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for inverter-related issues.
- Support APQP, PPAP documentation, and regulatory compliance in collaboration with internal and customer teams.
- Define and manage system-level requirements and interfaces for inverter systems, ensuring full alignment with quality standards.
- Support design validation, verification planning, and traceability of requirements and test cases using tools like DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent.
- Analyze inverter system behavior and contribute to reliability studies, functional checks, and failure investigations.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to integrate power electronics, control strategies, and safety mechanisms.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Interface with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and internal teams to resolve technical issues and ensure product robustness.
- Lead or support design reviews, customer assessments, and quality gate reviews.
- Champion product reliability metrics, defect tracking, and feedback loops within R&D and manufacturing environments.
Knowledge / Experience
- Experience in automotive systems engineering, with direct involvement in inverter system development
- Demonstrated proficiency in quality tools: DFMEA, FTA, DRBFM, 8D, Ishikawa
- Working knowledge of standards and processes including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 26262
- Familiarity with EV/HEV powertrain architectures and high-voltage safety principles
Preferred
- Experience in power electronics validation, inverter testing, and reliability analysis
- Hands-on use of QMS, PLM platforms, and requirement management tools (., DOORS, Polarion)
- Understanding of vehicle communication protocols: CAN, LIN, UDS
- Strong analytical, documentation, and technical presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively across global, multi-disciplinary teams
