Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a Lead STA Engineer, based in Gaydon. Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

THE ROLE

The purpose of the role is to develop the capacity and quality performance of all new product and current vehicle suppliers and performs an important role within the Purchasing Department. To support the planning, monitoring and controlling of supplier manufacturing processes and activities to enable high quality and on time execution of product programmes effectively and efficiently whilst maintaining and improving current car performance.

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Improve quality systems and drive continuous improvement.
  • Sourcing support.
  • Support review of DFMEA and lead review of PFMEA and control plans.
  • Advanced Product Quality planning (APQP).
  • Phased production part approval process (PPAP).
  • Launch support (Commodity launch reviews and programme management).
  • Warranty reduction (IQM system).
  • Schedule and conduct field action/stop shipment reviews in cases of supplier responsible concerns.
  • Build and develop the supplier relationship.

KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified to degree level within an engineering or business discipline (desirable).
  • Experienced within a Vehicle Engineering/Quality function and familiar with the Commodity Creation and Delivery system (CCDS).
  • Knowledge and experience of APQP/PPAP/8D.
  • Able to facilitate resolution of complex cross-functional issues.
  • Good leadership/negotiation/communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Able to operate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
  • Self-motivated & able to work on their own initiative.
  • No restrictions for European travel.
  • Full UK driving license (essential).
