Role Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Smart Manufacturing Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive experience in the manufacturing domain, particularly in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and IoT technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in consulting, technical solutioning, and business development, combined with exposure to AI and Data Platform solutions. This position is pivotal in driving the growth of our Smart Manufacturing business by working collaboratively with sales and delivery teams to develop and convert pipeline opportunities into successful engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
Consulting and Solutioning
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing expertise in Smart Manufacturing, MES, and IoT technologies, preferable in PLM and ERP as well
- Develop comprehensive technical solutions leveraging MES, IoT, AI, and data platform capabilities tailored to customer needs.
- Collaborate with customers to identify pain points and craft strategies that align with their Industry 4.0 transformation / Digital Transformation goals.
- Partner with sales teams to craft customer-centric proposals and solution designs.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure seamless transition and implementation of solutions.
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales support to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
Pipeline Opportunity Generation
- Work closely with sales teams to proactively identify and develop Smart Manufacturing / Digital Transformation opportunities.
- Support the conversion of reactive inquiries into strategic deals by presenting compelling technical and business value propositions.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities across various industry verticals, and support in proposals / technical solutions
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and innovations in Smart Manufacturing, MES, IoT, AI, and data platforms.
- Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, and customer events to demonstrate thought leadership.
- Publish whitepapers and case studies showcasing innovative solutions and success stories.
- Engage with senior customer stakeholders to drive alignment on technology adoption strategies.
- Act as the voice of the customer within internal teams to ensure solutions meet and exceed expectations.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Significant experience in the manufacturing industry with deep understanding of shop floor operations, manufacturing systems, and Industry 4.0 principles.
- Proven hands-on experience with MES platforms (e.g., Apriso, FactoryTalk, GE Proficy, Ignition, or similar) and IoT solutions.
- Exposure to AI, data analytics platforms, and cloud ecosystems (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Track record of developing and converting pipeline opportunities into successful projects.
- Familiarity with sales processes, proposal creation, and deal negotiation.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, including sales, delivery, and customer stakeholders.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Certifications in MES, IoT, AI, or cloud technologies.
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, or other manufacturing-intensive industries.
