Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems.

The role involves leading associated test verification and validation activities at the component and board levels, including development of testing equipment and execution of test cases. A successful candidate will be highly motivated, well versed in the state-of-the art, and capable of driving design and execution through all development stages.

Area of Responsibility:
  • Execute HIL test cases for Battery Management Systems (BMS) covering functional, safety, and diagnostic requirements.
  • Operate and manage BMS HIL test rigs, including ECU flashing, configuration, and test environment setup.
  • Normal operation, Fault injection (cell faults, sensor faults, communication faults), Safety and protection events and Degraded and boundary conditions.
  • Execute test campaigns for BMS features, including: Cell voltage and temperature monitoring, Current measurement validation, Cell balancing logic, Contactor control and protection logic.
  • Run automated and manual HIL test suites and ensure correct sequencing and execution.
  • Trigger and validate fault handling, diagnostics, and recovery strategies.
  • Log, analyse, and document test results, anomalies, and failures.
  • Raise, track, and manage defects/issues in test management or ALM tools.
  • Support regression testing following software or calibration updates.
  • Work closely with BMS software, systems, and safety engineers to reproduce issues and support root cause analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain test execution reports, including pass/fail status and traceability to requirements.
  • Support software integration and release validation milestones.
  • Maintain HIL rig health, including basic troubleshooting of IO, sensors, and communication links.
  • Ensure test execution aligns with defined test plans, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Discuss knowledge gaps and system requirements with system experts to enable thorough test coverage.
Knowledge / Experience:
  • Electrical, electronic, control systems or automotive engineering degree 2:1 or above or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Previous experience of manual and automated test execution and development.
  • Familiarity with typical software and test development processes.
  • Familiarity with requirements capture and requirement toolsets to generate test cases to validate requirements.
  • Experience with ETAS INCA / Vector CANape Tool experience or equivalent data acquisition experience.
  • Knowledge of automotive networks such as CAN, FlexRay, LIN, A2B, MOST etc.
  • Experience of DSPACE or NI HiL hardware and software.
  • Experience within the area of Requirements Modelling and Model Based System Engineering.
  • Excellent analytical skills and RCA, Root Cause Analysis, virtual analysis tools.
  • Good knowledge and trained in ISO 26262.
  • Experience in AUTOSAR Basic Software configuration.
