Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
Role Summary
The Project Controller is responsible for the analytical, governance, and assurance aspects of project delivery across GME non-production projects at Halewood. The role focuses on providing objective insight into time, cost, risk, and performance, enabling informed decision-making. Working closely with Project Managers, the Project Controller establishes and manages baselines, monitors progress, forecasts outcomes, and recommends corrective actions to optimize delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain integrated project schedules (OPC) ensuring alignment with program timelines
- Establish and manage project baselines for scope, schedule, and cost
- Track and report project performance including progress, cost, and risk metrics
- Conduct variance analysis and identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Develop accurate forecasts for project completion (time and cost)
- Support SAP cost control processes and financial tracking
- Provide regular project and program reporting with clear insights and recommendations
- Assure risk and issue management processes are robust and effective
- Support change control processes ensuring all changes are assessed and approved appropriately
- Challenge project assumptions and provide data-driven recommendations
- Act as a navigator to the Project Manager, supporting decision-making
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across reporting tools (e.g. eTracker)
Key Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience in project controls within manufacturing, engineering, or automotive environments
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, and cost control principles
- Experience in performance reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Familiarity with project control tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera or similar)
- Experience with SAP cost management (desirable)
- Knowledge of risk management and change control processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder communication and influencing abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers and cross-functional teams
- Relevant qualification or training in project controls or project management (e.g. APM, PMQ or equivalent desirable)
