Due to our continued growth, we are now recruiting for a Lead Engineer – E Motor to be based at our customer\’s site in Gaydon.

Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. ESS also integrates project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity processes, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

The Role:

We are seeking a Lead Engineer – eMotors to lead the engineering design, development, and project delivery of a one-off eMotor system, collaborating with Aston Martin\’s strategic eMotor supplier. This role will work under the guidance of the Head of eMotor Design, ensuring seamless integration, validation, and production readiness of high-performance eMotor components.

Area of Responsibility

  1. Project Planning & Execution
  • Lead cross-functional teams for the development and integration of eMotor systems within electrified powertrains.
  • Define project scope, deliverables, milestones, and align execution with program and system engineering teams.
  • Ensure timely execution of design, validation, and production readiness activities.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Own the technical roadmap for eMotor design, development, and validation, ensuring alignment with vehicle targets.
    • Guide material selection, cooling strategies, and electromagnetic optimization for eMotor architecture.
    • Interface with inverter and gearbox teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Supplier & Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Work closely with global suppliers and internal stakeholders (thermal, NVH, EMC, and controls teams) to ensure quality and performance.
    • Lead technical supplier reviews, tracking progress and issue resolution.
  • Requirements Management & Validation
    • Translate system-level requirements into component-level specifications.
    • Oversee DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) and FMEA activities for eMotor systems.
  • Risk & Issue Management
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the product development lifecycle.
    • Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for technical issues.
  • Cost, Timing & Quality Control
    • Track project costs, timing, and quality metrics, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
    • Support cost optimization initiatives through design refinements or supplier collaboration.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
    • Maintain technical documentation, meeting records, and validation reports in compliance with company standards.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
    • Stay informed on emerging eMotor technologies, contributing to IP generation and technology scouting.
    • Champion lessons learned and best practices for future projects.
