Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a Lead Engineer – Cabin, based in Gaydon, UK.
THE ROLE
The Lead Engineer is responsible for leading the cabin subsystem engineers and for delivering all aspects of the defined components and systems.
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Carpet, Loadspace, Cabin Systems, Floor Covering, and Brackets
- Packaging of parts, including hands-on packaging reviews of physical properties
- Manufacturing feasibility, including hands-on reviews with hand-cut sample parts
- Sourcing and supplier engagement
- FMEA and DVP creation
- Establishing the team work plan
- Following up actions with owners to ensure progress
- Publishing minutes from each meeting
- Ensuring delivery of technical and business objectives
- Ensuring programme timing objectives are met
- Communicating team progress to management
- Applying APQP to manage system and component delivery
- Supporting vehicle builds with parts at the required maturity level
- Ensuring issues are addressed and closed
- Identifying and managing programme risks
KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE
- Proven project management capability with recent on-time and on-budget delivery in a product development environment
- Engineering knowledge of component or system design, function, performance, production, and manufacturing requirements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels
- PC literacy, including Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Significant experience using engineering tools such as FMEA, Six Sigma, and structured problem resolution
- Successful delivery experience within the automotive product development sector
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- Preferred: CAD literacy with the ability to interrogate CAD data and use visualisation tools
- Preferred: Ability to generate CAD data in CATIA V5
- Preferred: Working knowledge of project delivery processes such as PPAP
