Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Diagnostic Engineer to spearhead the development of robust diagnostic strategies for advanced battery systems. You will be at the forefront of engineering innovation, helping build cutting-edge battery control functions, diagnostic algorithms, and fault detection solutions that ensure safety, reliability, and performance across a range of applications.
Area of Responsibility:
Diagnostic Algorithm Development
· Lead the design and implementation of model-based and data-driven diagnostic algorithms for lithium-ion battery systems
· Develop fault detection, isolation, and recovery strategies that integrate seamlessly with battery management systems (BMS)
· Identify root causes and failure modes using field data, lab tests, and analytical tools
· Collaborate with algorithm engineers, embedded software developers, and system architects to define diagnostic requirements
· Map failure paths and diagnostic coverage in alignment with functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508)
· Ensure system-level diagnostics are accurate, adaptive, and fail-safe
Validation & Calibration
· Define verification and validation protocols for diagnostic features
· Use hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) setups and simulation models to test fault scenarios
· Refine thresholds and diagnostic logic through data analysis and field testing
Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration
· Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical reviews
· Champion best practices in diagnostic architecture, documentation, and lifecycle management
· Interface with customer teams and internal stakeholders to ensure delivery of high-quality solutions
Knowledge / Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
- Experience in diagnostic development, fault modeling, or battery systems engineering
- Strong grasp of battery chemistry, electrical characteristics, and degradation mechanisms
- Skilled in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and diagnostic tools (e.g., Vector CANape, CANalyzer)
- Experience with ISO 26262 compliance and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) structures
- Hands-on testing with battery packs, cells, and instrumentation
- Experience in EV, aerospace, or renewable energy sectors
- Familiarity with OBD (On-Board Diagnostics), UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services), or AUTOSAR
