Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a BMS Control System Integration Engineer to be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon.
Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
Role Summary: As a BMS Control System Integration Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless integration and rigorous validation of hardware and control systems within advanced Battery Management Systems. You’ll lead verification, fault simulation and control functionality testing across key BMS domains including SDU control units, CSC electronics, and WGM hardware modules under safety and performance constraints.
Key responsibilities:
- Integrate BMS control strategies across SDU, CSC, and WGM components
- Manage interface consistency between embedded software and hardware signals
- Support cross-domain integration with electrical, mechanical, and thermal control teams
- Develop and execute HIL test plans for control logic, fault scenarios, and edge cases
- Build simulation models for WGM and CSC hardware to test real-time responses
- Analyse test data to validate control responses and troubleshoot system discrepancies
- Implement automated test suites for functional validation of control algorithms
- Verify system compliance against specifications, safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262), and regulatory norms
- Document validation results and assist in release readiness reviews
- Identify root causes of hardware-control integration issues using diagnostic tools
- Collaborate with hardware and algorithm teams to refine system behaviour
- Recommend process improvements to boost efficiency, robustness, and traceability
- Requirement elicitation and maintaining traceability to ensure the product meets the required safety, performance and reliability standards
- Managing supplier co-ordination for delivery of components as per the program milestones
Required skills & experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or related field
- Extensive experience in system testing, embedded controls, or BMS integration
- Hands‑on experience with HIL platforms (e.g., dSPACE, NI, ETAS), test automation, and fault injection
- Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and CAN‑based communication tools (CANalyzer, CANoe)
- Working knowledge of SDU control logic, CSC interfaces, and gateway hardware
Advantageous Skills:
- Experience in the development and testing of safety‑critical systems
- Familiarity with battery cell behavior, pack configurations, and electrical diagnostics
- Background in automotive, aerospace, or high‑voltage industrial applications
- Understanding of signal conditioning, data acquisition systems, and model‑based design
