At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world’s leading manufacturers.
Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a
Business Consultant to be based at our office/ our customer’s site in warwick.
Our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) practice helps manufacturers build better products, define better processes, and reduce costs.
As an engineering services organization, we use the processes and software we recommend to our clients.
We leverage two decades of PLM domain expertise, industry-leading software partnerships, innovative training services, and a laser-like focus on understanding the product development challenges specific to each of our clients.
The Role
Our automotive customers are transforming how vehicles are conceived, engineered, sourced, manufactured, launched, sold and serviced.
Success depends on a single governed thread running from product strategy through to the finished vehicle in the customer’s hands, spanning New Product Introduction (NPI), the configuration and BOM backbone, and the order-to-delivery chain that converts demand into shipped product.
We are seeking a Business Consultant to be the person in the room with our customers – leading workshops and working sessions with business leaders, chief engineers and practitioners to understand deeply how they operate today: their landscape, processes, tools, data and ways of working, and the pain points and improvement opportunities hidden inside them.
The role then converts that understanding into action.
The Business Consultant will shape and articulate solutions through consulting packs, target process and capability views, demonstrators and reusable accelerators that make the proposition tangible – showing the customer not just what could be better, but what better looks like.
The ultimate measure of the role is account growth: new conversations opened, new work shaped and won and trusted advisor status earned.
- Area of Responsibility
- Domain Authority – Product Development & Order-to-Delivery
- Apply deep expertise across the end-to-end NPI lifecycle: Product Definition, Product Engineering, Manufacturing and Process Engineering, Operations and Production, and Sales, Service and Warranty.
- Assess and shape phase-gate frameworks – kick-off, concept finalisation, design freeze, product and process validation, certification, Job #1 and ramp-up – including gateway criteria, deliverables, entry and exit conditions and sign-off authority.
- Analyse and improve the configuration and BOM backbone across requirements, features, EBOM, MBOM, Bill of Process, Purchase, Cost and Service BOM, and how these views stay consistent.
- Address feature and option, variant, effectivity and rule management, including 150% configurable superset to 100% solved buildable unit.
- Assess change governance across feature and option change, engineering change, manufacturing change and enterprise change, including impact assessment and propagation.
- Cover sourcing and purchasing processes, supplier data exchange, part maturity and cost linkage to the BOM; manufacturing and process engineering, line balancing, tooling, work instructions and as-planned to as-built consistency; programme scheduling, build events, long-lead items and critical path; and launch readiness including pilot builds, homologation, quality gates, ramp-up and stabilisation.
- Cover the commercial run cycle from demand and sales through order capture, order configuration and validation, scheduling and slotting, production allocation, build, logistics, invoicing and vehicle delivery, plus aftersales including Service BOM, VIN traceability, spare parts, warranty, campaigns and field feedback into engineering.
- Plan, facilitate and lead workshops, interviews and working sessions with customer business leaders, chief engineers, process owners and practitioners across engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, programme and commercial functions.
- Build a deep, evidence-based understanding of the customer landscape – processes, systems, data, tools, organisation, ways of working and their interdependencies.
- Draw out real pain points, workarounds, handover friction, rework loops, data quality issues and value leakage that stakeholders may not articulate directly.
- Knowledge / Experience
- the automotive industry, with substantial time spent inside an OEM or Tier-1 in product development, programme management, manufacturing engineering, purchasing or supply chain, not solely in IT or consulting.
- Demonstrable mastery of the complete automotive NPI/NPD process end to end, with genuine depth across product strategy, product definition, engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, scheduling, launch and service, evidenced by real vehicle programmes delivered to Job #1 and beyond.
- Deep working knowledge of configuration and BOM management: features and options, variant rules, effectivity, EBOM/MBOM/SBOM convergence, Bill of Process, and BOM transformation across engineering, purchasing, manufacturing and service views.
- Strong command of phase-gate and change governance frameworks, milestone plans, design freeze discipline, maturity management and cross-functional deliverable sets.
- Practical understanding of how the business runs commercially from sales and demand planning through order capture and configuration, order scheduling and slotting, production allocation, logistics to invoicing and vehicle delivery.
- Proven experience defining business capability models, end-to-end process architecture, target operating models and business-to-system traceability.
- Working knowledge of the enabling system landscape – CLM, PLM, ERP, MES, ALM, CRM/DMS, SLM, configurators and data/analytics platforms.
Sufficient to shape and challenge solution design without owning it.
- Excellent structured thinking, process modelling and documentation skills, with the ability to reduce complexity to clear, decision-ready material.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with consulting-grade presentation skills.
- Preferred
- Experience across more than one OEM or operating model, enabling credible comparative and benchmarking insight.
- Familiarity with 3DEXPERIENCE
In return for bringing your expertise to our business we offer a competitive salary along with excellent benefits including:
- Pension Scheme – We match employee contribution up to 5% of salary
- Private Health Care
- Tata Jaguar Land Rover Privilege Scheme - up to 20% off new JLR vehicles
- Group Income Protection
- Health Assured – Employee Assistance Program
- Group Life Assurance
- Health Shield – Private Health Cash Plan
