Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Calibration Engineer to be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon on a hybrid basis. Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

Role Summary: The Lead Calibration Engineer is responsible for delivering high‑quality powertrain/software calibrations, ensuring adherence to established change-control processes, and managing cross‑functional technical interactions across the calibration lifecycle. This role requires strong technical leadership, problem‑solving capability, and hands‑on experience with calibration development tools—with CRETA proficiency as a mandatory requirement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Release high‑quality calibrations and provide OK/NOK for release readiness.
  • Ensure full compliance with software and calibration change‑control processes as documented in the correct customer compliant way.
  • Execute and maintain software & calibration change‑control activities, including ownership of issue resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate upcoming software changes and develop initial calibrations.
  • Own and manage calibration label structures; resolve ownership conflicts.
  • Track and report calibration status, including growth charts and maturity indicators.
  • Provide OK/NOK for calibration release at appropriate program milestones.
  • Contribute to prototype build sign‑off and vehicle release phases.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for calibration‑related issue diagnosis.

Required skills & experience:

  • CRETA tool experience – MUST HAVE (daily use expected for change‑control, calibration management, and issue tracking).
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to facilitate technical discussions with internal/external partners.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to both technical and customer‑facing contexts.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle architecture and control systems.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering calibration content with a holistic, attribute‑balanced perspective.
  • Proficient use of calibration tools such as INCA, MDA, Corvus, CANalyzer.
  • Ability to interpret supplier software documentation.

Key Interactions:

  • GPO, Project Lead, Software Lead – timing and reporting.
  • Integration Engineers – daily liaison for investigation and issue management.
  • Calibration Engineers – calibration and software change‑control collaboration (including CRETA‑based workflows).
  • External suppliers: Bosch, FEV, and others.
  • Internal functional teams: NVH, Vehicle Engineering, EO, PED.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • DAT cycle completion with full evidence.
  • Calibration sign‑off completion at required gateways.
  • Calibration Health Check completion with supporting documentation.
