Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a System Engineer – Digital Cockpit Features to be based at our customer’s site in Bicester.

Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

The Role: The System Engineer – Digital Cockpit Systems is responsible for supporting the development, integration, and delivery of digital cockpit features within automotive programs. This role bridges system engineering, software, hardware, and vehicle integration teams to ensure digital cockpit systems such as infotainment, instrument clusters, and head-up displays are delivered on time, within scope, and according to technical requirements. The Project Engineer coordinates technical activities, manages project milestones, and supports issue resolution throughout the product development lifecycle.

Area of Responsibility

  • Coordinate the development and integration of Digital Cockpit systems including infotainment, instrument cluster, and head-up display features.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and milestone tracking for cockpit-related deliverables.
  • Work closely with system engineering, software, hardware, HMI/UX, and vehicle integration teams to ensure program alignment.
  • Track technical deliverables, risks, and dependencies related to cockpit systems within the vehicle program.
  • Support the definition and documentation of system requirements and feature specifications.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of components and software releases.
  • Assist with system integration planning, validation activities, and vehicle-level testing.
  • Monitor project progress and technical performance, escalating issues when required.
  • Support design reviews, technical discussions, and program status meetings.
  • Assist with issue tracking, root cause investigation, and resolution coordination.
  • Maintain project documentation including requirements, test plans, and release notes.
  • Ensure adherence to automotive development processes, quality standards, and program timelines.

Knowledge / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field is considered advantageous.
  • Training or certifications in Automotive Systems Engineering, Embedded Systems, or Project Management are beneficial.

Required Skills

  • Experience working in automotive digital cockpit or infotainment development programs.
  • Understanding of automotive system development lifecycle and product development processes.
  • Familiarity with vehicle communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Knowledge of infotainment systems, instrument clusters, and display technologies.
  • Experience with requirements management and tracking tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent.
  • Ability to coordinate across cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers.
  • Strong project coordination, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with issue tracking and project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Good Knowledge of Cockpit Electronics Components such as Displays, Switches, Antenna, Amplifier, Control Units etc.
  • Experience of various infotainment and instrument cluster features such as Satellite Navigation, Satellite Radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Driver Information features like Error messaging, tell tales etc.

Added (Preferred) Skills

  • Exposure to Android Automotive OS or Linux-based infotainment platforms.
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR architectures and automotive software integration.
  • Familiarity with vehicle integration, testing, and validation processes.
  • Experience with Agile or SAFE development methodologies.
  • Understanding of functional safety (ISO 26262) and automotive cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience working with global automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and network analysis tools such as CANoe or CANalyzer.
