We are looking for an experienced Should Costing Engineer specializing in automotive trim components. The candidate will be responsible for developing accurate cost structures, analyzing manufacturing processes, and supporting sourcing strategies for interior and exterior trim parts.
Responsibilities:
- Build detailed should-cost models for automotive trim components, including: Bumpers; Door trims; Carpets; Roof liners; Instrument Panel (IP) and Dashboard assemblies; Windscreen glass; Sunvisors; Automotive seats; Safety systems (airbags, seat belts); HVAC units; Engine covers.
- Analyze design specifications, BOMs, and process flows to estimate material, labor, and overhead costs.
- Collaborate with design, sourcing, and supplier teams to validate cost assumptions and identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Benchmark supplier quotes against should-cost models to support negotiations and strategic sourcing decisions.
- Monitor industry trends, raw material pricing, and manufacturing technologies for automotive trim components.
- Prepare cost analysis reports and presentations for management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or related field.
- Experience in cost engineering, should costing, or value analysis for automotive trim components.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Plastic injection molding and painting processes
- Sheet metal stamping and forming
- Glass manufacturing and lamination
- Foam and textile processes for seats and carpets
- HVAC and safety system assembly
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to automotive OEM/Tier-1 supplier environments.
- Familiarity with design-to-cost and value engineering methodologies.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional global environment.
