Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Lighting Validation Engineer to be based at our customer's site in Gaydon. Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

Role Summary: The purpose of this role is to be a Validation Engineer for interior and exterior lighting features, including planning and execution of static and dynamic validation which will include assessments in hours of darkness.

Dimension of function: Validation plans executed accurately, comprehensively and on time. Error states detected, raised, and tracked through to resolution. Certification delivered on time and with no outstanding items. Equipment maintained, calibrated and available for use when required.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Ownership of exterior and interior lighting features validation across the range of vehicles.
  • Execution of static and dynamic validation activity, including night drives, in line with existing procedures and risk assessments.
  • Develop robust plans involving input from multiple stakeholders in order to deliver validation and certification by required gateways.
  • Input into the evolution of validation methods for new and existing lighting features.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience of working in vehicle validation.
  • Willingness to support validation activity in hours of darkness.
  • Logical in approach and ability to process complex test cases.
  • Knowledge and experience of Agile principles.
  • Good organisational skills, e.g. managing multiple inputs to deliver an effective plan.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Class 3 Advanced Road Driving permit.
  • GPA Gaydon Proving Ground Access.
  • Flexibility in working hours.
  • Good verbal and written communications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • 1PG Entry Level Car Control (Wet Grip & =130mph).
  • Experience of maintaining calibration records and arranging equipment calibration.
  • Knowledge of systems including TRM and XRAY, JIRA.
