What you will do:
- Reporting to the Lead Projects Engineer, the role is to own all aspects of Mechanical Engineering Design related to Project Engineering.
- The projects generally support the development of the Shotton site manufacturing capabilities and business plans.
- Working from a project charter, problem statement, or specification document, generate Engineering designs to meet the needs of the Projects group.
- Translate ideas into 3D solid models using Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.
- Generate full sets of detailed drawings, validation calculations, Bill of Materials and technical manuals to facilitate manufacture, testing, and installation.
- Use 3D scanning tools to enable the design of new equipment to interface with existing equipment without risk of clash or conflict.
- Take ownership of the site’s legacy models and drawings and facilitate the ongoing organisation and file management of these.
- Provide engineering and technology support to plant engineers and manufacturing teams.
- Undertake ongoing training and personal professional development.
What you will need:
- The successful candidate would ideally be educated to degree level in an appropriate engineering discipline. HNC or HND will be considered.
- A minimum of 3 years solid modelling experience is required in either Catia, Solid Works, or Inventor.
- Competency in maintaining drawings using 2D AutoCAD is required.
- Competency and experience is required in carrying out Finite Element Analysis studies to validate mechanical designs.
- A good working knowledge of standard fits, tolerances and GD&T is required.
- A good working knowledge of Vault or similar file management software is required.
- The ability to select appropriate materials is essential based on weight, strength, cost and environments.
- Experience in being a resource involved with projects is beneficial, with the constraints around planning and time-management.
- A working knowledge of the application of the supply of Machinery Regulations is desirable.
- An appreciation of SAP is desirable but not essential.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
