Job Title: Planner (Production Order)

Department: Supply Chain & Commercial Services (Planning)

Location: Steelpark, Wolverhampton (WV11)

Salary £25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience

We’re looking for a highly analytical and detail-driven Planner (Production Order) to support production planning and fulfilment across our Tata Steel Distribution UK & Ireland business. This is a key operational role where you’ll convert customer and planning demand into efficient production orders, ensuring optimal use of materials, capacity, and resources.

You’ll play a critical role in aligning demand with production capability, maximising yield and productivity, and maintaining high service levels in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.

What you will do

  • Convert demand into production orders, allocating raw materials and nesting finished goods
  • Raise stock orders to support planning design demand
  • Engage with the Campaign Planning process to understand demand and available capacity
  • Support the creation, review, and delivery of weekly campaign plans
  • Create Job Work Orders by nesting finished goods and allocating materials
  • Plan production to maximise yield, availability, and productivity while minimising costs
  • Manage short-term capacity constraints and resolve planning exceptions
  • Coordinate external processing where required, minimising reliance where possible
  • Ensure compliance with defined business processes and quality systems
  • Work closely with Inventory Coordinators and Production Schedule Planners to resolve exceptions
  • Conduct performance reviews, root cause analysis, and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with commercial and supply chain teams to maintain and improve service levels

What you will need

  • Experience in production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations
  • Strong understanding of planning processes, capacity management, and material allocation
  • Experience working with ERP and planning systems (e.g. Stratix, campaign planning tools)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage complex data
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach
