Are you passionate about creating safer workplaces, supporting project teams, and driving a strong safety culture? Do you enjoy working with people, solving problems, and helping others understand their responsibilities? If so, this role offers the chance to influence safety across a major project environment.
We’re looking for a Health & Safety Officer to support the CAPEX Management Team by developing, implementing and monitoring the site’s health & safety strategy. You’ll play a key part in preventing incidents, identifying improvements and promoting best practice across all projects.
What you will do
In this role, you’ll be a visible, proactive presence across project areas — supporting teams, offering expert advice and helping everyone stay safe while meeting legal and company requirements. You’ll lead by example and encourage a positive safety culture at every level. You’ll provide support in areas such as ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation, maintaining certified systems, and acting as the main point of contact for external bodies when needed. You’ll also help shape safety programmes, identify risks, promote continuous improvement and encourage ownership of safety across the organisation. Your work will include activities like guiding project teams through hazard identification, delivering or coordinating training, supporting document control, and helping minimise risks within the CAPEX portfolio. You’ll support the development of individual capability, assist with investigations and ensure the business remains compliant, informed and confident in its safety performance.
What you will need
You’ll bring a strong understanding of UK health & safety legislation, including key laws such as the Health & Safety at Work Act and CDM Regulations. Alongside your technical knowledge, you’ll need the confidence to advise, educate and influence people at all levels. You should have experience managing health & safety within a complex environment and be able to identify improvements, assess risks and recommend solutions. The ability to develop and deliver training is important, as is a good awareness of construction processes, plant and equipment to understand the specific risks involved. Ideally, you’ll hold a relevant qualification in Health & Safety Management, and a NEBOSH Diploma would be an advantage. Strong organisational and advisory skills, a commitment to continual improvement and the ability to stay up to date with legislation will help you succeed in this role. If you’re motivated by helping others stay safe, building strong working relationships and driving a culture where safety is genuinely valued, we’d love to hear from you.
