Electrical Apprentice Instructors are subject matter experts who are responsible for the design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation of high impact learning events (either directly and/or via third parties as appropriate). We are looking for an Electrical Apprentice Instructor to work in partnership with a range of internal and/or external stakeholders to ensure that training approaches are efficient, effective and meet business needs and/or the requirements of national qualification bodies, ensuring transfer of learning with optimum return on training investment.
The Electrical Apprentice Instructor will play a crucial role in delivering our Apprentice framework across our sites in Port Talbot, Llanwern, Trostre and Catnic. You’ll be working with various departments to create and adapt training materials to ensure the apprentices are “site ready” to the TATA Steel UK engineering requirements. The Electrical Apprentice Instructor will play a pivotal role in dealing with local area review meetings across the various sites and works areas on a regular basis, offering advice to the Engineering Managers and Mentors around performance of individuals, apprenticeships frameworks and continuous improvement suggestions. You’ll also play a key role in recruitment activities such as supporting recruitment events in both TATA Steel and within the local schools and community. The scope of this role can also be extended to deliver against the wider requirements of a range of talent programmes (e.g. Apprenticeship, Higher Apprenticeship and Degree Apprentice programmes) and to manage a consistent pipeline of high calibre individuals into the business.
Duties and responsibilities with the role will include but not be limited to:
- Ensuring that all safety, health and environment requirements, including both TATA and relevant third party regulatory bodies are fully met with regard to all development/training activities (e.g. Competent Authority, HSE, Lloyds Audit etc.).
- Designing training materials to enable individuals to successfully complete a programme of learning as defined by the relevant body.
- Maintaining and improving the training environment, ensuring that facilities, equipment, tools and materials are maintained safely and are fit for use.
- Delivering training effectively, demonstrating insight into learning techniques and adapting delivery style appropriately to the learner.
- Understanding the requirements of external accrediting bodies and being occupationally competent to assess the knowledge and skill requirements.
As an Electrical Apprentice Instructor, you will:
- Be educated to a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline (ideally Level 4).
- Be trained towards an assessing qualification (TAQA, A1 Assessor).
- Hold previous experience of operating and training individuals on electrical processes and principles.
- Have industry experience and knowledge on plant processes.
