What you will do
Project Invictus is one of the most ambitious industrial programmes in Europe and represents a once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity to shape the future of steelmaking in the UK. As Construction Manager, you will play a central role in delivering a groundbreaking megaproject that will transform our operations and support the transition to a more sustainable, modern steel industry. In this role, you will take responsibility for leading construction activities across a large and complex site. You will coordinate works across multiple disciplines, contractors and stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality project delivery. Your work will involve planning and guiding the construction schedule, managing resources, supporting engineering and procurement teams and ensuring all activities remain aligned with project milestones. You will also take ownership of site safety and compliance, maintaining high standards across all construction areas. Strong leadership will be a key part of your day, from mentoring teams to resolving on‑site challenges and supporting decision making. You will work closely with senior project leaders, providing clear updates on progress, risks and opportunities to keep the project on track. This is a fast‑paced role that blends technical awareness, strategic thinking and on‑the‑ground leadership. If you enjoy managing large programmes of work, thrive on collaboration and want to be part of a project that will leave a lasting legacy, this role offers the chance to make a genuine impact.
What you will need
You will bring significant experience in industrial construction management, ideally within large‑scale or complex engineering projects. A strong understanding of steel fabrication, welding practices and industrial facility construction will be important. You should be confident using construction management tools and planning software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project and familiar with BIM environments. Safety leadership is essential. You should have a deep understanding of HSE requirements and experience embedding safe systems of work across busy construction sites. Your ability to work with contractors, engineering teams and senior stakeholders will be vital, along with strong organisational and problem‑solving skills. A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is preferred, and additional project management qualifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 would be an advantage. Experience working in cross‑cultural or international project environments will also be useful. This role suits someone who is decisive, calm under pressure and able to bring clarity and structure to complex situations. Most importantly, you will be motivated by the challenge of delivering work that will shape the future of steelmaking and the communities around it.
