We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference. Do you want to contribute to how a major UK manufacturer responds to new carbon trade regulation? The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is changing how industrial products are traded into Europe. For Tata Steel UK, getting this right is critical to protecting our commercial position and maintaining access to EU markets.

We are looking for a Compliance Manager to coordinate and manage all aspects of our CBAM response.

What you will do

This is a business-critical role. The work you do will directly affect our ability to sell into the EU and prepare for the introduction of UK CBAM in 2027. You will act as a central point of coordination for CBAM across the business. That means working closely with Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, HSSE and IT colleagues to make sure everyone understands what is required and when.

  • Participate as a core member of company’s multi-functional CBAM team
  • Act as the main contact for customers on CBAM-related matters
  • Support customers with emissions data queries and submissions
  • Support communication with suppliers regarding UK CBAM requirements
  • Oversee the internal CBAM administrative framework and compliance workflows
  • Monitor changes in EU and UK legislation and advise the business on required actions
  • Identify compliance risks and ensure mitigation plans are in place, directly and via escalation
  • Support preparations for external verification in 2027 and beyond

This role is about turning complex regulations into clear, workable processes that protect the business and maintain customer confidence.

What you will need

You will likely have experience in a compliance, regulatory, commercial governance or administrative leadership role. You will bring:

  • Customer centricity and commitment to high levels of customer trust and satisfaction
  • Strong coordination and organisational skills
  • Confidence in working across multiple stakeholder groups
  • The ability to interpret regulatory guidance and apply it practically
  • Clear communication skills, particularly when explaining complex requirements
  • A structured and risk-aware approach
  • Strong teamworking mindset

Experience in trade compliance, sustainability regulation, tax, customs or emissions reporting, together with evidence of a customer-centric mindset, would be beneficial.

What we can offer you

Tata Steel UK offers their employees significant benefits packages. For this role, you will benefit from:

  • A market competitive salary
  • 35 days holidays per annum
  • Annual Pay Review
  • Bonus Scheme – subject to business performance
  • Ongoing Tata Steel training, which has built a reputation as one of the best within the industry
  • Private Healthcare Scheme (Individual cover)
  • One of the UK’s leading defined contribution pension schemes (10% employer contribution / 6% employee contribution)
  • Extensive lifestyle benefits including free onsite parking at all of our sites, an employee assistance programme as well as Employee discount scheme for companies including Vodafone, Jaguar Land Rover and also various local services.
