Are you passionate about ensuring safe, compliant, and risk-aware industrial operations? Do you want to play a pivotal role in shaping how process safety is embedded across an entire organisation? We are looking for a Lead Process Safety Engineer to drive excellence in process safety and uphold best practice across our operations. This role will partner with senior stakeholders, engineers, and safety leaders to implement a robust Process Safety Management System, ensuring that both legislative requirements and industry standards are fully reflected in how we operate. Your expertise will directly safeguard people, assets, and performance at a strategic level.
What you will do:
- Supporting development and rollout of the Process Safety Management strategy and roadmap.
- Deploying safety standards, codes of practice, guides and specialist frameworks across business units.
- Leading risk assessments, incident investigations and process hazard evaluations.
- Advising managers, engineers and technical specialists on process safety decisions.
- Translating wider industry best practice into operational application in heavy industry and COMAH environments.
- Developing and reporting Process Safety KPIs to drive learning, improvement and accountability.
- Conducting system audits and identifying areas for risk reduction and improved compliance.
- Providing insight, analysis and training that strengthens safety ownership at all levels of the business.
What you’ll bring:
- Strong understanding of Process Safety and COMAH frameworks.
- Deep knowledge in specialist areas such as Risk Assessment, LOPA, SIL, OBRA, MOC, Human Factors or Emergency Preparedness.
- Ability to analyse complex technical risks, model probability, and communicate implications clearly.
- Credibility and confidence to influence stakeholders at every level of the organisation.
- Demonstrated experience delivering process safety improvements in an industrial, process, or regulated environment.
- Degree in process or chemical engineering, ideally with chartership or progression towards IChemE membership.
