We are seeking an experienced and influential Environment Manager to lead environmental compliance, performance, and sustainability across our Port Talbot site. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a highly visible environmental leadership role where you will drive environmental excellence, strengthen relationships with regulators and stakeholders, champion sustainability, and help foster a culture of continuous improvement across a major manufacturing operation.
What you will do:
- Environmental Leadership
- Lead all aspects of environmental compliance, governance, and risk management across the Port Talbot site.
- Provide expert environmental guidance to senior leaders and operational teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in environmental performance and sustainability outcomes.
- Compliance & Assurance
- Maintain and continuously improve the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, legislation, and internal standards.
- Lead regulatory inspections, certification audits, and assurance activities.
- Monitor, analyse, and report environmental data and key performance indicators.
- Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and operational efficiency.
- Lead environmental reviews, governance meetings, and compliance reporting.
- Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Develop positive relationships with Natural Resources Wales, certification bodies, community representatives, and external stakeholders.
- Represent Tata Steel UK in environmental forums and industry groups.
- Promote environmental awareness and accountability throughout the site.
What you will need:
- Experience
- Environmental management experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, engineering, utilities, or another highly regulated environment.
- Extensive knowledge of ISO 14001 and environmental management systems.
- Strong experience in environmental permitting, compliance, auditing, and regulator engagement.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and deliver environmental improvements.
- Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
