Electrical Apprentice Instructors are subject‑matter experts responsible for designing, delivering, assessing, and evaluating high‑impact learning events directly or through third parties. The role works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure training meets business needs and national qualification requirements, delivering a tangible impact across Port Talbot, Llanwern, Trostre and Catnic sites. The instructor collaborates on local area review meetings, provides advice to Engineering Managers and Mentors on performance and continuous improvement, supports recruitment events within TATA Steel and local schools, and may extend to talent programmes such as Apprenticeship, Higher Apprenticeship and Degree Apprentice programmes.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all safety, health and environment requirements are met for all development and training activities.
  • Design training materials to enable successful completion of programmes defined by the relevant bodies.
  • Maintain and improve the training environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and materials are safe and fit for use.
  • Deliver training effectively, adapting style to learner needs.
  • Understand external accrediting bodies and demonstrate competency to assess knowledge and skill requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline (ideally Level 4).
  • Training towards an assessing qualification (TAQA, A1 Assessor).
  • Previous experience of operating and training individuals on electrical processes and principles.
  • Industry experience and knowledge of plant processes.
