Salary: up to £35,000 depending on experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and schedule lintels for a range of UK construction projects, including housing, industrial and commercial.
  • Provide technical advice to end users through schedules and structural calculations.
  • Analyse current and competitor products to identify strengths and weaknesses and champion improvements to the product range.
  • Promote the technical and commercial advantages of the product range based on sound knowledge of building technology.
  • Ensure all work, including that performed by third‑party service providers on behalf of the company, complies with Tata Steel’s health and safety, quality, environmental and corporate policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an HNC qualification in Building, Structures or a related subject.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and building technology.
  • Commercial awareness and strong communication skills for a customer‑facing role.
  • Technical skills in housing and general building design, assessment of structural loads, CAD drawing & design, documentation of design processes and changes, practical understanding of system performance and installation.
  • Product knowledge (training provided).
  • IT proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and CLASS (training provided).
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight timelines.
