Following a multi-million pound investment to reconfigure our site, including a new Cold Mill, new Warehousing facilities, new Engineering Workshops and Stores, the Works Engineer will be integral to developing the maintenance excellence programme for this facility and delivery of the reliability and operational standards, as well as having a key role in identifying, developing and managing the implementation of future Capital Expenditure schemes for the site.

The Works Engineer leads a team of skilled Engineering Professionals to ensure that manufacturing assets and the supporting site infrastructure are maintained to the high engineering standards that are demanded within a safety critical environment, and to ensure the continuous development of the capability of our assets to improve plant performance and availability, in order to drive our business forward. This is an exciting and energetic role, at the very heart of our steel making activities and you will feel part of a team that makes a difference.
The Role
Reporting to the Works Manager, this role will be based at our Corby Site, with the occasional requirement to travel to other UK Tata Steel sites to attend meetings and to network with peers. Within this role, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

- Implement an asset reliability programme, complete asset criticality studies, manage FMEA programme and lead the team to deploy the Tata Steel UK maintenance and reliability excellence model.
- Ensure that team members acquire necessary standards of process comprehension and problem solving capabilities to excel at process diagnostics and implement countermeasures to drive improvement.
- Determine timetables and programmes for regular planned maintenance stops, including annual and other periodic major refurbishments, and manage these programmes as required.
- Management of the overall annual maintenance and repair budget for the site and ensure that budget and resources are effectively deployed to support the business objectives.
- Drive the development of competence of the Engineering teams and ensure that effective programmes are in place for monitoring and improving performance and for the continual development of individuals as successors to key positions.
- Engage in strategic discussions and forums within the business (and the wider Company as required) to ensure the development and implementation of engineering plans, practices and standards.
