We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and experienced HR Manager to join our Human Resources function at Senior Manager Level based at our site in Corby. Reporting to the HR & IR Director, you will be responsible for leading and implementing the people plan for teams across the Tata Steel Corby site.

As part of the Corby Operational Leadership Team, the role is business facing with a requirement to be on site, ideally five days per week, supported by a remote case advisor. Tata Steel’s Corby site is one of the UK’s leading steel tube manufacturing facilities, producing approximately 250,000 tonnes of welded steel tube each year for customers in construction, engineering, infrastructure and energy sectors. Employing around 350 people across manufacturing and support functions, the site combines advanced manufacturing technology with a highly skilled workforce to deliver world‑class products used in major projects across the UK and beyond.

Key Accountabilities
  • Developing and leading the implementation of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy and providing insights and recommendations on HR issues and trends to support business objectives.
  • Providing guidance and support on all HR matters.
  • Assessing and recommending organisational changes to ensure that the capacity and capability of the business area can meet the challenges of its strategy and integrate with the strategic workforce plan.
  • Leading and facilitating employee information and consultation processes, collective bargaining and negotiation within the partnered areas.
  • Working with Management Teams to identify talent needs and develop strategies for talent acquisition, development, succession and retention.
  • Providing leadership in developing a capable and competent workforce in line with local and business needs, leveraging support from appropriate expertise.
  • Coaching and developing management teams to improve leadership capability and enhance performance.
  • Providing expert guidance on employee relations matters relating to organisational change, including consultations, restructures, redeployment processes, and workforce change programmes.
Requirements
  • A degree or equivalent in HR or Business, preferably with a Masters in a relevant field.
  • Ideally a member of CIPD with a proven track record in HR Business Partnering.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of business operations.
  • The ability to think strategically and align HR initiatives with operational and commercial goals.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and supporting employee consultation processes, organisational restructures and workforce change programmes within a complex and evolving environment.
  • High ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proven experience within a unionised environment with strong industrial relations expertise and the ability to lead engagement, consultation and negotiation with trade union representatives as the site lead for IR matters.
  • Strong ability to work with various stakeholders across HR and Business to manage HR service delivery.
  • A broad generalist HR knowledge base and an in‑depth understanding of business operations.
  • Strong problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to navigate and manage change effectively.
  • Ability to apply professional knowledge and experience to operational challenges and develop people plans that bring real business benefits.
  • Experience of leading the roll‑out of learning and development programmes to support organisational objectives and workforce capability.
  • Experience of working on a standalone site and being the main HR representative on site while working with a remote case advisor model would be advantageous.
