The Role
You will be working for a customer who is second largest manufacturer of Aero Engines for large commercial and business aviation. Primary role is stress analyzing Aero-engine components according to customer standards and processes. Work will involve Prepare documentation, present in technical reviews etc.
To work for some of the Defense programmes an individual must hold a Security Check clearance. TCS will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently have this in place.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform stress analysis of aero-engine components such as:
- External Pipes, Harness and their supports
- Engine mounts and attachment features
- Bolted joints and structural components
- Perform static stress and deflection calculations
- Assess brackets for stiffness, strength and fatigue life
- Develop and validate FEA/FEM models using tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran or equivalent.
- Responsible for assessing the structural integrity, strength, durability, and life of aero-engine components under mechanical, thermal, and aerodynamic loads.
- Support in Design Reviews liaising with customers and seeking required approval.
- Support external designers in selecting suitable: Material, Thickness, fillet radius, fasteners, bracket geometry and support locations.
- Review CAD models and engineering drawings from a structural perspective
- Provide stress justification for design changes and concessions.
- Prepare stress reports and technical substantiation.
- Perform fatigue assessments, including LCF/HCF where applicable.
- Work closely with design, manufacturing and system engineering
- Carry out hand calculations to validate FEA results and establish preliminary sizing.
- Evaluate component behavior under pressure, temperature, vibration, rotational and mechanical loads.
- Perform static and dynamic structural analysis and investigate critical stress locations.
Technical skills/knowledge/experience:
- Knowledge in 3D modelling and Analysis software’s such as Hypermesh, ANSYS /NASTRAN /Abaqus - FEA
- Aerospace and aero Engine Knowledge
- Any Design/stress experience
- Fluency in written/Spoken English
- Basic Mechanical Engineering Knowledge
- MS Office (Word/Excel/Power Point) and Computer skills
- Enthusiasm to learn and contribute.
