This role is part of a managed service that will be providing critical frontline assistance for airline flight and crew management systems. You will be the AIMS application expert/consultant with a balanced knowledge of flight and crew operations standards, working closely with the business team based at the Operations Control Centre (OCC) for a major UK airline, and will be instrumental in providing technology support in day-to-day airline operations.
Our customer operates in a complex, fast-paced aviation environment where effective crew scheduling and flight planning are critical to operational success. You will work onsite alongside OCC stakeholders and application vendors, helping resolve real-time functional and technical issues and enabling smoother disruption recovery, crew compliance, and flight continuity. This is a high-visibility role with direct operational impact, offering exposure to global airline operations and next-gen workforce management technologies.
You will also be responsible for building a structured knowledge base for the AIMS application and its underlying business processes, while mentoring and grooming the wider support team to progressively expand their coverage and capabilities.
Your responsibilities:
- Act as SME and first point of contact for all AIMS-related support issues raised by the Flight Ops and Crewing business teams.
- Provide hands-on functional support on AIMS modules like but not limited to Rostering, Pairing, Crew Tracking, Training, and Flight Scheduling.
- Liaise with AIMS vendor and internal IT support groups for issue resolution and enhancements.
- Troubleshoot and analyse data issues, missing feeds, or integration faults involving AIMS and downstream systems (e.g. HR, Payroll, Ops Systems).
- Support business users from an application support standpoint with day-to-day activities in OCC.
- Maintain knowledge base and documentation for issue patterns, standard procedures, and change logs.
- Develop structured documentation for AIMS business processes and train support teams to extend service coverage effectively.
- Support testing and validation for new features, releases, or configuration changes in coordination with business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with functional teams to identify improvement opportunities in crew and flight planning processes.
- Provide out-of-hours or on-call support during major incidents, crew disruption events, or key operational windows.
- Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with airline policies and regulatory frameworks.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- In-depth functional knowledge of the AIMS application, particularly modules related to crew scheduling, rostering, training, and flight ops.
- Understanding of airline operations, including crew planning standards, regulatory compliance, and flight disruption handling.
- Experience working with or supporting users in an Operations Control Centre (OCC) or similar real-time environment.
- Ability to liaise effectively between business users, IT teams, and software vendors.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for application and data-level issues.
- Familiarity with integration landscapes involving crew/flight data from upstream or downstream systems.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Strong stakeholder management, with a proactive attitude toward operational support.
- Experience working in a General Shift with 24x7 critical support environment.
- Exposure to incident and change management frameworks (e.g. ITIL).
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Prior experience in supporting AIMS for a commercial airline.
- Familiarity with crew compliance regulations (e.g. FTL, EASA, CAA).
- Understanding of airline disruption recovery processes and crew recovery planning.
- Knowledge of integration with HRMS, payroll, and training systems.
- Experience with reporting or dashboard tools used alongside AIMS.
- Hands-on SQL or ability to interpret application logs for diagnostics.
- Experience working with remote or offshore support teams.
- Exposure to project or UAT cycles for airline ops systems.
