Role: New Product Introduction Engineer

Job Type: Permanent

Location: London, United Kingdom

Working Hours: 40 hours per week (Full-time)

Support new product introduction from design release through industrialisation and production launch, ensuring manufacturing requirements, risks and deliverables are clearly defined and managed. Develop and validate manufacturing processes, work instructions, tooling requirements and production documentation in line with engineering drawings, quality standards and customer requirements. Coordinate with design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and programme teams to resolve producibility issues, control engineering changes and achieve agreed cost, quality and delivery targets. Drive manufacturing readiness through process validation, capability assessment, production trials and launch reviews, using lessons learned and production data to support a safe, compliant and stable ramp-up.

Your responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate new product introduction activities from design release through industrialisation, manufacturing readiness and production launch.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications and product requirements to assess manufacturability and define suitable production methods, process flows and controls.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing process plans, work instructions, tooling requirements, control plans and other production documentation.
  • Coordinate with design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and programme teams to resolve producibility, material, tooling and production-readiness issues.
  • Lead process validation, production trials and capability assessments to confirm that new or changed manufacturing processes meet safety, quality, cost and delivery requirements.
  • Support tooling, equipment and facility readiness, including specification, procurement, installation, commissioning and acceptance where required.
  • Manage engineering and manufacturing changes during industrialisation, ensuring approved updates are reflected in processes, tooling and production documentation with full traceability.
  • Prepare for and support manufacturing readiness reviews, first-off builds, FAIR or PPAP activities, and customer or regulatory approval requirements as applicable.
  • Monitor launch performance, address early production issues and use lessons learned and production data to improve process capability, quality, cost and delivery performance.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Experience supporting new product introduction and industrialisation from design release through manufacturing readiness, first build and production launch.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and product requirements, assess manufacturability and translate design intent into robust manufacturing processes.
  • Practical experience developing manufacturing process plans, work instructions, control plans, tooling requirements and production documentation.
  • Experience specifying, developing or introducing production tooling, equipment and facilities, including supporting procurement, commissioning and acceptance activities.
  • Knowledge of process validation, production trials, capability assessment, manufacturing readiness reviews and first article activities such as FAIR or PPAP.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace or other regulated manufacturing quality requirements, including AS9100, configuration control, traceability and process compliance.
  • Experience managing engineering and manufacturing changes, ensuring approved requirements are implemented in processes, tooling and production documentation with appropriate configuration control and traceability.
  • Strong analytical, structured problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and programme teams to resolve launch issues and achieve agreed delivery targets.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Previous experience delivering new product introduction within aerospace, defence or another safety-critical, highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, APQP qualification, or equivalent training in quality planning, continuous improvement or structured problem-solving.
  • Experience using APQP, PFMEA, control plans, process capability, statistical process control or other data-led methods to validate manufacturing readiness.
  • Experience managing cross-functional NPI work packages, supplier industrialisation activities or production transfers from development into series manufacture.
