The Role: As an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Consultant, you will lead and support the design, build, and delivery of EPR systems within NHS Trusts across the UK. You will bring strong experience implementing large‑scale EPR platforms such as Cerner Millennium, Nervecentre, InterSystems, or equivalent systems. You will play a key role in aligning technology with clinical workflows, enabling interoperability, and ensuring compliance with NHS standards. This role provides the opportunity to influence how clinical teams access and use information, improving patient outcomes and hospital efficiency.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive the design, development, implementation, integration, and support of EPR systems to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Lead technical aspects of EPR go‑lives, including data migration from multiple legacy systems.
  • Ensure compliance with NHS service standards and frameworks, including DTAC, DSPT, cyber security, clinical safety, and accessibility requirements.
  • Lead EPR implementation activities, including defining implementation plans, sequencing module rollouts, user engagement, and system adoption.
  • Guide NHS stakeholders through benefits realisation and change‑management processes.
  • Ensure seamless integration with existing platforms such as PAS, NHS App, EDMS, LIMS, and PACS.
  • Analyse and map patient pathways and hospital operational workflows to support safe and effective care delivery, leveraging interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7.
  • Provide time‑bound change‑management support for existing systems and new programmes.
  • Support and mentor team members by offering advice, guidance, and functional support where required.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Extensive experience designing and delivering EPR systems within UK Public Sector Healthcare Trusts.
  • Proven experience working with enterprise EPR platforms such as Cerner Millennium, Nervecentre, InterSystems, or equivalent solutions.
  • Strong understanding of patient pathways, clinical processes, and hospital operational workflows.
  • Knowledge of Public Sector Healthcare integration and interoperability standards, including FHIR and HL7.
  • Experience supporting compliance with DSPT, and DTAC requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience engaging with multiple stakeholders and developing EPR implementation plans.
  • Demonstrable ability to translate clinical and operational requirements into technical delivery.
  • Resilience and adaptability within complex programme environments.
  • Experience working within recognised programme or delivery management frameworks.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
  • Proficiency in standard tooling such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Project, and Visio (or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to act with integrity and maintain confidentiality while building trusted professional relationships.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Experience supporting large‑scale digital transformation programmes within acute, community, or specialist Public Health Sector Trusts.
