The Role

As a Powertrain Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall validation and execution for automotive engine/BEV programs, ensuring all aspects of validation are managed effectively. In this role, you will work on the creation of DVP and Test Cases and DVP assessment. You will be responsible for development, performance & functional verification to sign off.

Your responsibilities:

  • Creating robust test plans (DVP) for validating systems and components.
  • Performing routine quality control tests, test equipment, and analysing data to understand variance.
  • Testing various types of test rigs, including those for e-drive and ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) systems.
  • Working effectively in a cross-functional team, collaborating with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring robust process quality planning, and supporting virtual and physical builds.
  • Potentially working with advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues, proposing solutions, and participating in issue resolution.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Demonstrating a strong technical background, understanding of engine engineering, and experience with quality tools.
  • Experience of test rig specification, set-up and test, including instrumentation.
  • Problem-solving skills using 8D.
  • Knowledge on calibration tools like INCA/Concerto/Puma/MDA.
  • Understanding test processes and equipment.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems, understanding automotive communication protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Bachelor’s/master's degree in mechanical engineering or automotive engineering.
  • Propulsion and vehicle calibration and diagnostics.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and present findings.
  • Sound knowledge on MHEV/BEV systems architecture.
  • Good in MHEV and BEV DVP test plans (DVP) creation for validating systems and components.
