Design next-generation data platforms supporting large-scale transformation programmes. Work with modern document databases, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native services. Play a key role in enterprise data migration and modernisation initiatives.

The Role: As a DB Specialist – MongoDB, you will design, build, and optimise MongoDB-based data models for large-scale, cloud-native systems. You will support enterprise data modernisation by enabling API-first and event-driven architectures, leading migration initiatives, and ensuring high-performance and scalable data solutions aligned with industry and enterprise standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Designing MongoDB document-based data models aligned with API-first and event-driven architecture principles.
  • Aligning data models with industry standards such as TMF Open APIs and shared information frameworks.
  • Optimising data models for flexible schema evolution, high-volume data operations, and efficient query performance.
  • Defining indexing strategies and aggregation frameworks to support performance and scalability requirements.
  • Developing and executing migration strategies from relational databases such as Oracle to MongoDB.
  • Supporting data migration activities, including bulk data loads, incremental migration processes, and validation or reconciliation where required.
  • Collaborating with cloud and platform teams on migration tooling and implementation approaches.
  • Ensuring data architecture supports microservices and API-driven system design.
  • Contributing to overall data platform performance, availability, and scalability improvements.
  • Working within large-scale integration environments to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Strong expertise in MongoDB data modelling, including document design, embedding, and referencing strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with indexing strategies and aggregation pipelines.
  • Experience designing schemas for microservices-based and API-driven architectures.
  • Exposure to event-driven architectural patterns.
  • Practical experience with relational-to-NoSQL migration strategies.
  • Understanding of data performance, scalability, and high-availability considerations.
  • Experience working in complex, large-scale integration environments.
  • Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas or similar managed database services.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Experience within telecom or provisioning domains.
  • Familiarity with TM Forum standards and frameworks.
  • Experience working on large-scale transformation or modernisation programmes.
  • Understanding of AWS cloud services and serverless architectures.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery models.
