The Role: As a Salesforce DevOps Engineer / Lead, you will be responsible for establishing, governing, and optimising Salesforce DevOps processes across a complex Salesforce landscape. You will lead the implementation and management of end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using Copado, Azure DevOps, or similar DevOps platforms, ensuring secure, compliant, and high-quality deployments across multiple Salesforce environments. Working closely with architects, developers, release managers, product owners, and delivery teams, you will help accelerate delivery while maintaining governance, security, and auditability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage Salesforce CI/CD pipelines using Copado, Azure DevOps, or Salesforce DevOps solutions.
  • Configure deployment workflows across Development, SIT, UAT, Pre-Production, and Production environments.
  • Manage release calendars, deployment schedules, and production deployment activities.
  • Execute production deployments and post-deployment validation activities.
  • Define, document, and test rollback and recovery procedures.
  • Maintain Salesforce environment strategies, including sandbox, scratch org, and refresh management.
  • Manage source control repositories and implement effective branching and merging strategies.
  • Automate code promotion, deployment, and release processes.
  • Integrate automated testing, quality gates, and deployment validation processes into release pipelines.
  • Monitor code quality, security vulnerabilities, technical debt, and deployment risks.
  • Ensure deployment activities comply with governance, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain deployment audit trails, release documentation, and reporting artefacts.
  • Collaborate with Salesforce Architects, Development Leads, Product Owners, and Agile delivery teams.
  • Provide DevOps status reporting, risk management updates, and release governance oversight.
  • Drive continuous improvement through deployment automation, process optimisation, and DevOps maturity initiatives.
  • Mentor development teams on DevOps principles, release management, and deployment best practices.

Your Profile:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong Salesforce platform experience, including administration, release management, and environment management.
  • Strong hands-on experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Copado, Azure DevOps, or similar DevOps tools.
  • Experience managing Salesforce deployments across multiple environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce DX (SFDX), Salesforce Metadata API, and Salesforce security models.
  • Experience with Git-based version control systems such as GitHub and Bitbucket.
  • Strong understanding of branching, merging, and release governance strategies.
  • Experience implementing deployment automation and automated testing frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with release planning, change management, environment strategy, and incident management.
  • Experience working within regulated environments requiring strong governance and compliance controls.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working within UK Government, HMRC, GDS, or public sector programmes.
  • Experience supporting Salesforce public sector implementations.
  • Knowledge of security, compliance, and audit requirements within regulated environments.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and automated testing frameworks.
  • Exposure to Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Gearset, or similar release management tools.
  • Experience working within multi-vendor delivery environments.
  • Salesforce Administrator, Platform App Builder, Platform Developer, Copado, or Salesforce Architect certifications.
