The Role – Domain Architect – Autonomous Networks, AIOps & Agentic AI

The Domain Architect will provide architecture leadership and deep domain expertise for BT’s Autonomous Networks, AIOps and AI‑led Network Transformation initiative.

The role will shape the target state architecture, guide technology strategy and ensure alignment with BT’s ambition to progress towards Autonomous Network Level 4+ capabilities.

Working closely with BT architects, TCS SMEs, hyperscalers, network vendors and ecosystem partners, the architect will define and validate architecture patterns spanning network operations, AIOps, observability, automation, knowledge management, AI reasoning and agentic orchestration.

The role will act as the primary domain expert for Autonomous Networks, ensuring that solutions are standards‑based, scalable, vendor‑neutral and aligned with industry frameworks.

  • Your responsibilities
  • Architecture Leadership & Solution

Strategy: Define and evolve the target Autonomous Network and AIOps architecture; establish architecture principles, standards, guardrails and reusable design patterns; drive architecture reviews and technical governance across BT, TCS and partner teams; ensure alignment between business objectives, network transformation priorities and technical architecture decisions.

  • Define integration approaches across OSS, automation, observability, AI and orchestration domains; provide deep expertise in Autonomous Network maturity models, intent‑based operations, closed‑loop automation and domain autonomy; define capability roadmaps supporting progression towards AN Level 4+ objectives; shape architecture patterns for use cases such as predictive operations, anomaly detection, root‑cause analysis, closed‑loop remediation, service assurance and intelligent automation; support alignment of architecture capabilities with strategic business outcomes and operational transformation goals.

Alignment: Ensure architecture alignment with TM Forum Autonomous Networks, Open Digital Architecture (ODA), e TOM, SID and Open APIs; promote open, standards‑based and vendor‑neutral architecture approaches; define architecture principles for interoperability, integration and ecosystem collaboration; support industry‑aligned reference architectures and governance frameworks.

  • Agentic AI & Intelligence

Architecture: Define architecture patterns for Agentic AI within network operations; shape framework components including orchestration, reasoning, governance and human‑in‑the‑loop controls; establish approaches for explainability, trust, policy governance and controlled autonomous actions; guide reusable AI architecture patterns that can scale across network domains.

  • Data, Knowledge & Observability

Architecture: Define architecture for telemetry, events, logs, metrics and operational observability; guide design of knowledge graph, ontology, semantic data and digital twin capabilities; establish principles for data ingestion, lineage, AI reasoning and operational intelligence; ensure architecture supports scalable analytics and near real‑time decisioning.

  • Innovation, POCs & Architecture

Assurance: Lead architecture definition and validation for proofs of concept and innovation initiatives; review partner solutions, technology options and implementation approaches; validate technical feasibility, scalability and business alignment; ensure lessons learned are incorporated into the target architecture and roadmap.

  • Required Experience
  • 15+ years of telecom and technology architecture experience.
  • Proven expertise in telecom OSS/BSS, network operations, service assurance and automation.
  • Strong understanding of network transformation, operational automation and observability platforms.
  • Experience leading architecture engagements with CSPs, technology vendors and ecosystem partners.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders across architecture, operations, technology and business functions.
