This is a full-time, temporary position.

A Taste of What You’ll Do:

  • As a Wine Educator at Rombauer Vineyards, you’ll be the face of our esteemed winery, ensuring every visitor leaves with a memorable experience.
  • The Wine Educator is a primary guest experience representative at Rombauer Vineyards, ensuring a dedication to the highest quality of customer satisfaction delivered with a sense of graciousness, pride, fun, and company spirit.
  • Promotes the sale of wine and non-wine products sold in the Tasting Room.
  • Greets all visitors and pours wines for tasting.
  • Describes wines, winemaking techniques, winery history, and provides general tourist information.
  • Dedicated to ensuring a wonderful wine tasting experience, including the handling of disgruntled customers.
  • Handles routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash register and accounting of daily sales and bank deposits.
  • May assist with hospitality special events as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service Excellence: Provide the highest quality of customer service with graciousness and pride, highlighting our unique company spirit.
  • Promote Our Products: Actively promote and sell our wine and non-wine products in the Tasting Room.
  • Share Your Knowledge: Describe our wines, winemaking techniques, and share our winery's rich history.
  • Financial Transactions: Manage routine purchasing transactions, operate the cash register, and account for daily sales.
  • Support Special Events: Assist with special events as needed, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of our winery.
  • Team Collaboration: Be part of a dynamic team supporting visitor centre operations to achieve our financial goals, enhance consumer experiences, build loyalty, and reflect our brand's essence.

Qualifications:

What You’ll Need:

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 2 years of tasting room, customer service, retail sales, wine industry, hospitality, team management, public relations, marketing, or teaching and educating others experience.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to lift and move product weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to work weekends and a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operation.
  • Required to engage in frequent walking and standing.
  • Required to multi-task with focus on detail and switch gears quickly.
  • Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
  • Experienced in conflict resolution.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation.

How You’ll Stand Out:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 1 year of tasting room, customer service, retail sales, wine industry, hospitality, team management, public relations, direct to consumer marketing, or wine education experience; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 5 years of tasting room, customer service, retail sales or hospitality.
  • Knowledge of wine and wine production.
