The Hospitality Specialist is at the forefront of our brand, welcoming guests at The Outlook. This role's purpose is to create memorable experiences for our guests through excellent customer service, exemplary hospitality, and the ability to speak knowledgeably about Knudsen Vineyards wines and the wine industry in general. An equally important purpose is to generate revenue by selling bottles of wine to customers in the Tasting Room, converting guests to Family Roots Wine Club members, and collecting consumer contact information to enable future sales via eCommerce transactions.
The person in this role will work directly with the Tasting Room Manager to perform hospitality standards through excellent customer service in all DTC channels; Tasting Room, Events, Wine Club, eCommerce, and Phone sales. Essential to the role is maintaining the company’s long-established reputation for excellence, respecting others, and creating and fostering a culture of trust, cooperation and lasting engagement among team members, our customers, and key stakeholders in the community. This role requires flexibility and the ability to positively accommodate changes in sales technique, staffing, scheduling, and procedures. As a new company, we are aiming for high quality standards which at times will inevitably require changes in procedures or protocols as we seek to better serve our customers and reach our business goals. Regular and dependable attendance is an essential function of all positions. Detailed job duties will be provided during the interview.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have exemplary customer service and presentation skills with the ability to relay knowledge of wines and wine production in private and group settings
- Must possess dynamic communication skills & excel in in‑person communications and interactions
- Must show the ability to multitask and “act on the fly” during high traffic situations
- Must maintain a positive and professional attitude
- Build strong relationships with guests
- Experience in retail and/or wine sales is a plus but not required
- Must have a clean professional appearance & display positive attitude routinely
- Must have an eye for cleanliness and quality control in workplace
- Ability to start a project and carry through to successful implementation
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., a case of wine, propane tank, furniture)
- Must hold a current (or obtain during first 30 days of employment) OLCC server’s permit and Oregon Food Handler’s permit
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preference to candidates 21+ years of age
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Commerce7, Tock - not required, but a plus!
- Passionate about wine and knowledgeable of Oregon wine industry
- Desire to learn aspects of wine industry from a historic vineyard
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Offer premium customer service & hospitality for all visitors; customers, members of the trade, friends and family, etc.
- Host guests through daily tastings, elevated and private tasting experiences & events as needed. Emphasis on customer loyalty and retention, building long‑lasting relationships.
- Understand and meet monthly individual and team sales and wine club goals
- Additional support duties include build food plates, restock wine, wipe down tables, bus and wash glasses, perform daily chores, setup/take down of multiple spaces as needed.
- Understand POS programs to process sales and shipping orders.
- Follow safety protocols to effectively promote a safe and clean work environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
The Hospitality Specialist will be required to work weekends, some weekdays, some evenings, and some holidays unless otherwise arranged with management. The typical shift will vary from 4‑8 hours between 9:30 am‑5:30 pm, 1‑5 days per week, depending on staff availability and traffic levels. Service occurs on multiple levels requiring frequent use of stairs. The Knudsen Vineyards team works together in close quarters and many share workspaces.
SKILL AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
Must learn how to operate the Commerce7 Point of Sale program, Tock Reservation system and Phone system. Basic math skills - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division expected.
