We are recruiting a Head Chef for an exciting new opening in North Yorkshire, offering a rare opportunity to help shape and launch an ambitious food-led country inn from the very beginning.

Recently acquired by a passionate and experienced hospitality operator, this charming country inn is undergoing an extensive renovation ahead of a planned summer opening. The vision is to create a highly regarded dining destination with aspirations towards 1AA Rosette and beyond, centred around exceptional produce, relaxed hospitality, and cooking with real personality.

The restaurant will feature an intimate 35 to 40 cover dining space with a semi open kitchen, live fire cooking, and a bespoke wood and charcoal grill currently being built as a key focal point of the operation. Menus will focus heavily on outstanding local beef, seafood, and sustainable Yorkshire produce, paired with an impressive wine offering and a refined but approachable style of dining. Future plans include tasting menus, chefs table experiences, private dining, and further expansion as the business grows, making this an exceptional opportunity for a chef who wants genuine involvement in building something special.

As Head Chef, you will lead all aspects of the kitchen operation, helping establish the identity, standards, and direction of the business from day one. This role would suit an experienced Head Chef who wants to step into a leadership position within an ambitious and quality-driven environment. You will need to be passionate about produce-led cooking, organised, commercially aware, and excited by the opportunity to create a destination restaurant with genuine personality and long-term ambitions.

Duties:

  • Develop and deliver seasonal, produce-led menus
  • Lead all kitchen operations from launch onwards
  • Work closely with ownership to shape the food offering and future direction
  • Manage suppliers, ordering, stock control, and GP
  • Lead and develop the kitchen brigade
  • Deliver consistently high standards across all services
  • Maintain excellent hygiene and kitchen organisation
  • Contribute ideas towards future tasting menus, chefs table concepts, and private dining experiences
