We are looking for an ambitious Sous Chef to join a beautiful hotel in Suffolk which is situated overlooking the Suffolk coastline. Please note: We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role and candidates must have the right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship. The property offers a relaxed but high-quality dining experience with a strong focus on fresh, seasonal produce, British classics done well, and approachable modern dishes that guests genuinely enjoy. They work with a seasonal menu, sourced from local suppliers wherever possible and they serve around 40 covers per service plus cater for intimate weddings. The hotel is luxurious in design and is more a boutique style hotel and the restaurant is in keeping with the hotel. The hotel is situated in the perfect location and the restaurant has stunning views across the water.

The kitchen team has a brilliant culture, supportive leadership and a clear focus on consistency, standards and development. You will support the senior chefs in running the kitchen day-to-day, lead sections during busy service, assist with menu input and help drive quality across all dishes.

As a Sous Chef you will:

  • Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running and leadership of the kitchen
  • Lead service on designated shifts, maintaining calm, control and consistency
  • Assist with menu development, dish creation, costing and seasonal innovation
  • Prepare, cook and present dishes to specification and high standard
  • Train, mentor and motivate junior chefs to develop skills and confidence
  • Ensure all kitchen documentation, HACCP and Food Safety standards are followed
  • Manage ordering, stock control, waste reduction and GP targets
  • Deputise for the Head Chef in their absence where required
