We've worked with this group for the past 15 years and seen the development of the capital markets business to where it is today; a tier-1 200-strong group that work with most of the major banks in London. We've hired in some of the brightest Big 4, Accenture, Capco and other consulting talent into their ranks, meaning you'll be working with an exceptional peer group that really know their stuff.
Across capital markets, they have experts across front office, risk and regulation, operations, technology, AI and more. This specific team is focused on front office strategy, non-financial risk, front office transformation, banking regulation and ESG. Currently we are looking for a Senior Manager to join the team.
Typical types of project this team get involved in:
- Review of a risk and controls framework, working on a new operating model
- Desk mapping review strategy post Brexit across derivatives
- Heritage Libor rates review work
- Supporting Risk COOs with audit findings reviews/Consent Orders
- Review and advisory support for Mifid programmes
- An analysis of controls data; how accurate is the end to end roadmap and what tools and technology might the front office use to improve their data
Other 'practice' efforts could be:
- Write a 'future of risk' white paper to distribute to 20+ IBs
- Network with Heads of Regulatory Programme delivery to find out what the current pain points are at 10 top IBs
- Help get ideas for a risk controls data product - what might this look like?
Ideally we are looking for candidates with a good grounding in investment banking products and services, a solid non-financial risk focus and some regulatory understanding. We are looking for those focused on 1st line of defence; other lines of defence would be great to have in the background, or broad programmes spanning 1st, 2nd and 3rd line in the CV.
Qualities a strong Senior Manager might possess:
- Top track record of delivery with tier 1 banks; banks want to bring this person back and use them multiple times
- Team management and development expertise; a real people person and ability to inspire the next generation of consultants
- Sales and BD capability - examples of selling additional work, seeking out opportunities/converting them and an entrepreneurial spirit
- A humble, learning attitude; examples of where things went wrong, how they took on feedback and turned things around/made amends
- Broader practice development; getting involved in other activities to help the team grow and develop whether it be marketing, recruitment, conference talks or other
