An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Contract Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of TasNetworks’ state-wide regulated Vegetation Program across our transmission and distribution networks. This is a highly operational role, critical to keeping the network safe, reliable and compliant through effective planning, coordination and on-the-ground delivery.

In this role, you will be responsible for the practical execution and performance of the vegetation program, working closely with field crews, contractors and internal operational teams to ensure work is completed safely, on time and to standard. You will provide clear direction, manage contractor performance and resolve issues as they arise, ensuring vegetation works are delivered efficiently and in line with regulatory and business requirements.

You will oversee resourcing, budgets, governance and schedules, while actively managing the commercial and operational performance of vegetation contracts. A key part of the role is building strong, productive relationships with contractors, suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders, and maintaining regular, effective communication with those delivering work in the field.

You are an experienced operational contract or program manager (ideally within a regulated utility or infrastructure environment) and have demonstrated experience communicating clearly and respectfully with crews, leaders and contractors to get the best outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in project management or extensive equivalent professional experience delivering large-scale programs ($20M+ p.a.) in an ESI or similar environment.
  • Proven ability to negotiate balanced commercial outcomes within established contract and procurement frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of vegetation risk management, asset management, compliance and operational standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and systems to monitor performance and make informed operational decisions.
  • Confidence in setting priorities, resolving issues and supporting teams to meet program timelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to build trust and strong working relationships.

This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in protecting Tasmania’s electricity network while delivering sustainable, cost-effective vegetation management outcomes across the state.

This is a Permanent full time opportunity, offering an attractive remuneration and benefits package. At TasNetworks we want to power a bright future for our people, our community and our customers. We offer a supportive work environment where safety is at the heart of everything we do.

As an “employer of choice” we offer excellent employee benefits including:

  • 20 days of annual leave per year + an additional 3 days of leave between Christmas and New Year
  • Electricity discount of 16.66% (following probationary period)

  • Free onsite parking
  • Onsite gyms (plus an annual health and wellbeing rebate)
  • Personalised career pathways and professional development opportunities
