Deliver efficient administrative and reception support within inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring high-quality customer service, accurate record management, and effective communication. This role requires strong organisation, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.

The Customer Service Officers at the Department of Health Tasmania’s Central Administrative Hub are part of a small, dynamic team supporting the Outpatient Transformation Program, which aims to improve public outpatient services across Tasmania. This team plays a key role in streamlining administrative workflows and enhancing service delivery through contemporary practice management and call centre principles. The team ensures efficient, consumer-centred administrative support using a range of software and office systems. Their work helps reduce delays and improve consistency across outpatient services statewide.

The Role

  • Provide efficient administrative and/or reception services to Inpatient or Outpatient Service Units (or other clerical/administration area as required), utilising a range of software packages and office equipment, in accordance with established Agency policy, guidelines and procedures.
  • Provide high-quality administrative and clerical support.
  • Handle enquiries with sensitivity and confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate client records and filing systems.
  • Communicate effectively and work independently under pressure.

This role is ideal for individuals with strong organisational skills, a client-focused mindset, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

You will need to provide efficient administrative and/or reception services to Inpatient or Outpatient Service Units (or other clerical/administration area as required), utilising a range of software packages and office equipment, in accordance with established Agency policy, guidelines and procedures.

Details of appointment

Multiple Permanent full time and part time, day worker positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$66,049 to $70,993 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
