Role Overview: Think of yourself as a strategic architect and operational engine playing a direct role in the growth, innovation and end-to-end operational delivery of our Autonomous Vehicle (AV) division. You will orchestrate high-stakes operational campaigns - including the launch and scaling of remote assistance, emergency response, and localized fleet management - ensuring that our industry-leading safety SLAs, technical metrics, and regulatory requirements are met with absolute precision.

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership
    • AV Operations Strategy: Act as the primary client facing operational leader for our UK presence, deeply understanding the AV industry, competitive pressures, and local regulatory frameworks to scale operations safely and efficiently.
    • Fiscal & P&L Stewardship: Own the full operational budget and financial forecasting for UK operations. Ensure top-line revenue targets, gross margins, and cost-per-mile metrics align with the specialized costs of high-tier technical support and fleet maintenance.
    • Scale & Infrastructure Growth: Map out and execute the physical and digital infrastructure roadmaps required to support expanded remote assistance, emergency dispatch technologies, and depot operations.
    • Regulatory & Compliance Management: Ensure all operations strictly adhere to UK transportation laws, autonomous vehicle testing regulations, and local municipal frameworks, managing liability and performance requirements with zero tolerance for compromise.
  • Stakeholder management & High-Stakes Communication
    • Executive & Global Alignment: Serve as the critical bridge between UK ground operations and the client, global cross-functional leadership, and our C-suite, possessing the professional gravitas to influence global operational strategies.
    • Crisis & Incident Command: Serve as the ultimate escalation point for critical operational incidents. You must remain poised under extreme pressure, leading client facing incident response teams during high-stakes safety or technical anomalies.
    • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Partner seamlessly with internal departments (Client Services, WF, Finance etc.) to ensure local operational requirements and remote assistant needs are prioritized and resourced.
  • Operational Excellence & Risk Mitigation
    • UK Launch & Deployment: Lead the strategic launch of our remote assistant networks and emergency response frameworks in the UK, applying a "fail-proof," safety-first methodology to these life-critical workstreams.
    • Performance Accountability: Drive operational teams to consistently exceed strict contractual and internal KPIs, specifically those tied to latency, uptime, response times, and safety protocols essential for rider and public trust.
    • Vigilant Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify operational, technical, and commercial risks inherent in scaling autonomous technology. Architect and implement innovative operational workflows that allow for rapid software/hardware deployment without compromising public safety.
  • Team Empowerment & Innovation
    • Specialized Talent & Culture: Build and mentor a high-performing operations team. Drive a culture of continuous improvement, coaching personnel in advanced AV monitoring, emergency protocols, and human-in-the-loop AI integration.
    • Value-Driven Innovation: Continuously audit depot and remote operations to identify inefficiencies. Champion technical and operational innovations that differentiate our services from global competitors.

Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations management, fleet response, scale-up technology environments, or high-stakes mission control/call center operations.
  • Sector Expertise: Proven track record within the Autonomous Vehicle (AV) industry, Advanced Mobility sectors, ridesharing platforms, or automotive OEMs, with deep experience navigating complex operational frameworks.
  • Strategic Launch Track Record: Demonstrated success launching and scaling complex, real-time operational service lines, preferably involving emergency response, dispatch, or remote assistance environments.
  • UK Market Expertise: Deep familiarity with UK-specific transport regulations, labor laws, and business operations.
  • Technical & Analytical Literacy: Ability to interpret complex technical telemetry, data analytics, and commercial requirements related to AV technology, translating them into operational execution.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or MBA is preferred.

Work Location/Schedule

  • Location: Onsite, but must be based near or willing to relocate to the Manchester, UK area to oversee local operations.
  • Hours: Primary UK working hours (with flexibility to support global business needs).
