Tractor Driver(Machine Operator)

To form part of our clients grounds maintenance team, responsible for the safe and effective operational delivery of works using a variety of agricultural plant and machinery, including tractors; ensuring that work activities and actions are in line with our health, safety and quality expectations and company procedures.

Duties:

To operate a variety of plant, equipment and machinery (inc tractors up to 110HP), and to drive company vehicles as required.

To undertake work activities using plant and machinery (inc tractors) to safely and consistently undertake works to a high standard.

To operate tractors fitted with side-arm flails, front and rear mounted mowers to cut rural roadside verges (up to 60mph speed limit) and open spaces around the Peterborough area.

To operate tractors fitted with side-arm flails to cut urban and rural hedges/shrubs within the Peterborough area.

To be responsible for the day-to-day inspections and basic maintenance of the equipment, machinery and plant you are responsible for.

To complete all appropriate safety checks on all vehicles and equipment, carrying out maintenance, and reporting defects as required.

To ensure high standards of quality, health and safety and customer satisfaction are delivered at all times.

To undertake various streetcare maintenance tasks as required (grass cutting, shrub/hedge cutting, planting, litter picking, cleansing etc) of public open spaces, cemeteries, parks and highways.

To comply with the Company Health and Safety Policy and all associated procedures and guidance documents.

To comply with all other Company Policies and procedures.

Any other duties which may be reasonably requested that are commensurate with the post holders qualifications, skills, knowledge or expertise.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years experience in:

Operating tractors (of all sizes) for grass cutting works (using side arm flails and front/rear mounted cutters) in rural and urban environments.

Operating tractors (of all sizes) for hedge cutting works (using side arm flails).

Operating tractors (of all sizes) on the public highway (Desirable).

Demonstrated first-hand experience of safely operating tractors and attachments in a range of horticultural/agricultural environments, including grass cutting and hedge maintenance.

Driving licence up to 7.5 tonne (C1 licence).

Recognised qualification in the use of tractors and implements (Desirable).

Demonstrative knowledge and practical skills in agricultural plant and machinery, including tractors, tractor implements, ride-on mowers (Desirable).

Knowledge of general grounds maintenance works and activities.

Understanding of the importance and delivery of Health and Safety and its application.

Understanding of the importance of, and commitment to Equalities and Diversity and its application.

Ability to proactively recognise health and safety issues and take positive appropriate action.

Ability to work alone and unsupervised.

Ability to follow work instructions, both written and oral, to a high standard.

Self-motivated and hard working.

Ability to work under pressure to timescales.

A good team worker.

A positive can-do attitude with a flexible approach to work.

A willingness to learn, develop and progress their skills and knowledge

Exemplary customer service skills.

Shift available: Monday-Friday 37 hours per week (early finish on Friday 12.45pm).
