Taskmaster are recruiting on behalf of a growing engineering business for a Trainee Sales Engineer in the WA9 area. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in technical sales, combining engineering knowledge with customer-facing commercial work. You will work alongside experienced sales engineers, gain practical experience while learning how to manage the full sales cycle, from customer enquiry through to project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist senior sales engineers with preparing quotes, proposals, and product selections
- Respond to customer enquiries via email, telephone, and occasional site visits
- Provide general support to the sales team with administrative and technical tasks
- Build strong technical knowledge of products and solutions
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
- Participate in product training, demonstrations, and internal workshops
- Attend customer meetings and site visits alongside senior team members
- Help identify customer requirements and suggest appropriate solutions
- Develop positive relationships with new and existing customers
- Assist in coordinating activities between sales, engineering, and operations
- Support tender preparation and technical documentation
- Track open quotations and follow up on ongoing projects
Skills & Qualifications:
- GCSEs including English and Maths
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Keen interest in engineering or technical sales
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Previous experience through placements, internships, or part-time roles
- Basic understanding of technical drawings or CAD
- Familiarity with mechanical or fabrication processes
