Taskmaster are currently recruiting for a Class 2 Bin Lorry driver for our client based in Peterborough.
Main Duties:
- Drive/operate waste collection vehicles safely and collect waste from customers' premises.
- Ensure vehicle is roadworthy and load is safe for the public highway.
- Comply with all highway rules, e.g. speed limits and weight/height limits.
- Transport the load collected to an appropriate waste disposal facility.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times whilst carrying out these duties.
- Liaise with Traffic Office at the end of each working day to de-brief and clarify jobs completed on that day and check worksheets relating to jobs for the next day.
- Maintain accurate records relating to work undertaken, vehicle information and checks, accident reporting, near miss reporting, hours worked, vehicle movements (via tachograph) etc.
- Ensure compliance with Road Transport Directive, especially in relation to hours worked and declaration of any other employment outside of the Company.
- Maintain the Company vehicle in a clean and tidy condition, including cleaning out compacted waste from waste equipment (digging out), if appropriate, and ensure cab is kept clean.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks as per laid down procedures, i.e. wheel torquing (weekly) and visual daily wheel nut/tyre checks.
- Report any vehicle defaults to Depot Management according to laid down procedures.
- Report any issues relating to customer service to Depot Management on daily worksheets.
- Report any accidents or near misses according to procedure.
- Attend toolbox talks in order to encourage a safe working environment.
- Take all reasonable steps to safeguard the health and safety of self and any other person who may be affected by the job holder's actions at work.
- Carry out any other reasonable job related tasks as required by the Company.
Please note: the client is happy to accept up to 9 points on driving licence.
Working hours: Tuesday-Friday: 06:00-18:00 (latest)
Pay: £14.27ph.
