Taskmaster Resources Ltd are currently seeking to recruit a Painter and General Building Operative (two positions) at HM Prison Gartree (Market Harborough).

Painter Duties:

  • Planned and reactive paint work in all areas of the prison.
  • Responsibility for the care and maintenance of tools, materials and additional company property.
  • Compliance with relevant company Health & Safety Policy, instructions and directive.
  • This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.

Painter Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified to NVQ 2 or 3 in Painting & Decorating.
  • Previous relevant work-related experience.
  • Good awareness and understanding of personal health and safety, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Comfortable working alongside prisoners.

Pay rate: £18.00 to £21.00 per hour

Working hours: Hours are usually between 7-8am start and 4-5pm finish Monday to Friday.

General Building Operative Duties:

  • Work in a team to provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
  • Provide a professional assistance service to those requesting support including contractor escorting duties when required.
  • Complete tasks associated with DIY such as decorating, hanging notice boards, building furniture, repair of items around the prison.
  • Check appliances, fittings and general environment are in good working order and all defects reported to Team Leader.
  • General good housekeeping, including litter picking and landscaping around the grounds if required.
  • All other FM duties as required directed by team manager.
  • This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.

General Building Operative Skills and Experience:

  • Solid experience in DIY/general building maintenance.
  • CITB relevant certification or equivalent.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.

Pay rate: £15.00 to £18.00 per hour

Working hours: The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern is in place). There is a need to work 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).
