We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Software Test Engineer to join our team in Birkenhead, Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified graduate or early-career professional looking to develop their skills in a commercial embedded software environment.

Our high-performance, safety- and security-oriented toolchains are trusted by automotive manufacturers, suppliers, and adjacent industries worldwide to realise high-performance applications in safety-critical areas.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Test Development & Execution: Development and execution of test procedures for development and production needs. Design and implement manual and automated test cases and test suites. Automation of legacy test cases and suites. Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and performance testing. Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts.
  • Bug Tracking & Reporting: Identify, document, and track software defects using bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira). Reproduce, isolate, and perform root-cause analysis of reported issues. Prepare detailed test reports and test summaries for stakeholders. Monitor and report on test coverage and quality metrics. Work closely with software engineers and product managers. Participate in code reviews from a testability perspective. Collaborate in regular development meetings. Support CI/CD pipeline integration with automated tests. Stay up-to-date with new testing tools, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Documentation & Standards: Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, test plans, test cases, and test logs. Contribute to process improvement and definition of testing best practices. Support product releases.

Functional Skills & Requirements:

  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of C, C++ & Python programming languages. Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems and knowledge of batch/shell scripts. Experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD tools.
  • Soft Skills: Analytical thinking and strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Good communication and reporting skills. Problem-solving mindset and proactive attitude. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
