Due to continued growth, Basil Fry (part of the Jensten Group) is seeking an additional Trainee Account Handler to join our friendly and client-focused Commercial team. Founded in 1970, Basil Fry has built an in-depth knowledge of the removals, storage, and self-storage industries. Over more than fifty years of trading, our expertise has enabled us to deliver a broad range of specialist insurance solutions, in-house claims services, and market-leading risk management support.
You will be working within a team of approximately 20, and a wider office of 45, based at our Leatherhead site—just a short walk from the station and bus routes. This is a full-time, office-based role, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:15 pm.
Key objectives & responsibilities:
- Working closely with the team to deliver tailored insurance solutions and risk management advice
- Supporting the handling of renewals, mid-term adjustments, and new business by learning how to assess risk, gather client details, and liaise with insurers
- Preparing renewal quotations and following up with customers to help achieve retention and growth targets
- Building strong relationships with clients and learning how to provide solutions via phone and email
- Responding promptly to client queries under supervision and keeping accurate records of all communications
- Managing a variety of administrative tasks, including processing documentation, updating systems, and maintaining accurate records
- Answering incoming calls and directing queries to the right team members, ensuring every client receives excellent service
- Supporting credit control activities by monitoring outstanding payments and assisting with follow-up communications
- Ensuring compliance with internal procedures, customer service standards, and external regulations (e.g., FCA)
About you
As one of our Trainee Account Handlers, you will have excellent communication and written skills with a keen eye for detail. Previous insurance experience is not required, but you should have:
- Work experience gained in a professional office environment (desirable)
- A good understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- A sincere interest in developing a career within the insurance/broking sector
- A desire to work towards CII Qualifications (fully supported)
