KEY PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To assist the Qualified Leader in the organisation and running of the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Summer Schemes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To generate ideas and actively participate in the organisation and provision of daily programmes of activities for children, including indoor and outdoor activities under the direction of the Summer Scheme Leader.
  • To assist the Summer Scheme Leader in supervising events/outings for the children considering Health and Safety Legislation at all times.
  • To supervise, participate and lead various activities under the direction of the Summer Scheme Leader. To become fully involved in children’s activities and engage with them at all times.
  • To ensure that the children are supervised at all times and take control of any disruptive behaviour. Inform the Summer Scheme Leader should this behaviour persist.
  • To insure all injuries are recorded in the Accident/Injury Book and the appropriate accident forms completed. Report any accident to a child of a serious nature immediately to the Summer Scheme Leader. All accidents or injuries to a child must be reported to a parent/guardian.
  • To report to the Summer Scheme Leader any untoward events pertaining to a child, parent or carer.
  • To be familiar with Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council Child Protection policies and procedures.
  • To display a professional attitude at all times, in particular when parent/guardians are dropping off and collecting children.
  • Carry out other duties, which may be assigned.

Essential Criteria

  • EXPERIENCE – One years’ experience of working with children.

General

  • At least 18 years old on or before 19 June 2026.

Desirable Criteria:

  • It is desirable that applicants have the following qualifications / certificates:
  • First Aid
  • Defibrillator
  • EpiPen

Location: Lisburn

Start: 27 July to 14 August 26 - 3 week contract

Closing Date: 22 July 26

Hours of work: 9.45 am to 3.00 pm Monday to Friday

Temporary contract

Hourly Rate of pay: £13.05 per hour plus accrued holiday pay

Enhanced Access NI Certificate – If successful for this role you will go through the process to obtain the certificate.
